I am often asked what the acronym TEC in TEC Agency stands for. It stands for — The Essence of Communication. TEC Agency communicates the essence of a brand, its exact nature in its most concentrated form.

Roy Williams in his article, Ads are like houses, compares poor brand communication to a poorly designed house. No matter how well it has been decorated it will always be a poorly designed house. This idea is no more complex than the argument between form and function; which is of more importance? Or are both needed to guarantee successful brand communication?

The functional aspect of a brand is its core message; this is the foundation; it is on this that the aesthetic should be built. A beautiful image will momentarily grab the attention of your market, but without a core message it is little more than a pretty face.

The same applies to any form of communication, whether it is print, radio, broadcast, PR or direct marketing. No matter how well the material is executed if the core message is poor it will remain a poor communication device.

 
However, once the core message is perfected, it is critical that this message is expertly conveyed though every aspect of your communication collateral i.e. visuals, sounds, design, colours, typography etc.
